3 Highlights

1. Video conferencing with new RI General Secreatry  John Hewko.  Young, Dynamic , Engaging Speaking on Why Am I a Rotarian and posing the question. Are our clubs ready for the End of Polio and the flood of new member enquires that will come?

2. RID Stuart Heal. Direct/No frills/Punchy. No question a silly question.  We must have ONE strategic Plan for Rotary. Alignment of  RI Strategic Plan with TRF . Simplify enhance our message and the Rotary Brand

3. The introduction of a pilot Future Leaders Seminar at Brisbane Institute in November this year. An opportunity to Inspire a hunger and desire for leadership beyond club President level…… for District selected invitees to attend as observers.

 5 Takeaway Messages

1. Ageing. Has the new rush for younger members forgotten the demographic of an increasing Aging population willing and able to serve.

2. Global connectivity. Shift from ME to WE. Collaboration is the new black.

3. Council On Legislation. Major elephant in the room. The Rotary dinosaur. Next one  21-26 Apr 2013 in Chicago. We need to prepare well for this.  Forge Close link to our District rep to ensure relevant issues are tabled and synchronised.

4. TRF Future Vision. Effective 2013 year. New grant structure District & Global. Rotary is acknowledged as a  Billion dollar + organisation sitting at the table with major players such as The BILL & MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION.

5. New models for clubs. Shift from Attendance to Engagement and use language that our children understand. Rotary is HOT, COOL & sometimes gives away free stuff.

Finally it is an exciting time to be a Rotarian. 2 Observations .

1. How will we measure Engagement?

2. How do I as  DG …. the narrow bit of the hour glass …how can I best communicate/transmit the Rotary message of continuity and change  to our most important component …YOU.
